What was the evolutionary reason behind Boredom being part our brains?

Is boredom actually necessary for motivation, curiosity and our other positive drives?

If we do eliminate boredom entirely would we remain same, would we loose our positive drives and our productivity??

If we engineer out boredom from our brains, would that increase our happiness and our productivity?
